Shawn Garrison, 38, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, was charged with assault around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, following the dispute, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Michael O'Dowd.

Garrison was arrested after police responded to Crestwood Boulevard for a report of a neighbor dispute.

A police investigation determined that Garrison was arguing with his 77-year-old neighbor. The argument escalated and Garrison allegedly intentionally pushed his neighbor onto the roadway causing physical injury, O'Dowd said.

Garrison was arraigned before Judge Paul Sullivan and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
